Airport → Marrakech
Pickup at Marrakech Menara airport at your flight's arrival time and transfer to your hotel or riad. The rest of the day is free to explore Djemaa el Fna square and the medina at your own pace. In the late afternoon the square fills with musicians, storytellers, jugglers, craftsmen and snake charmers, and from the café terraces you can see the minarets, the souks and the rooftops of the city.

Marrakech → Tizi n'Tichka · Ouarzazate · Skoura → Dades Valley
Pickup at your hotel at the agreed time and the climb into the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, at 2,260 m (7,415 ft), with stops to take in the views and photos. The road moves from the green northern slopes to the dry landscapes of the south, and the first adobe Berber villages appear at the foot of the mountains. You'll pass through Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert, the Skoura palm grove and the Valley of Roses before reaching the Dades Valley.

Dades → Tinghir · Todra · Erfoud → Erg Chebbi
Along the Dades River near Boumalne, the road runs past kasbahs and ksour in shades of ochre, red and mauve. Through oases and palm groves you reach Tinghir and the Todra Gorges. Then Erfoud, the city of fossils, and a stretch of dirt track to Merzouga, facing the Erg Chebbi dunes. There you swap the car for camels to reach the camp, where dinner comes with the beat of Berber drums.

Erg Chebbi → Rissani · N'Kob · Agdz → Ouarzazate
If you like, get up early to watch the sunrise from the dunes. After breakfast, back to where the 4×4 is waiting and on to Rissani, the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty, whose market draws nomads who come to sell livestock and buy supplies; if it is market day, you'll see it in full swing. The road continues through Alnif and N'Kob to Agdz and the Draa Valley, with stops at adobe kasbahs, Berber villages and rock formations. Arrival in Ouarzazate.

Ouarzazate → Aït Ben Haddou · Tizi n'Tichka → Marrakech
After breakfast, if you wish, an optional visit to the Ouarzazate film studios or the Taourirt kasbah. Then a detour to Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved ksour in the country, with free time to walk through it and climb to the top, where you can see the whole valley. Back across the High Atlas and arrival in Marrakech, with transfer to your riad.
